Poker is a game that involves considerable chance and skill. Players are encouraged to bluff and make aggressive decisions in an attempt to win the pot, which is the total amount of money bet by all players on each deal. The game can be played by two or more players, although the ideal number of players for a given variant is six to eight. Each player has a number of chips, called “dealer chips,” which are passed around the table during the course of the game.<\/p>\n
In most poker games, the first player to act puts a small amount of chips into the pot. Professional poker players must be able to extract signal from noise across many channels and integrate their information at the right time to exploit opponents and protect themselves.
